Tweeting With Donald Trump

Tweeting With Donald Trump

Last Christmas Eve and again on Christmas Day, Donald Trump spent considerable time passing along his thoughts, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, “including the Radical Left Marxists that are trying to destroy our Country, the Federal Bureau of Investigation that is illegally coercing & paying Social and LameStream Media to push for a mentally disabled Democrat over the Brilliant, Clairvoyant, and USA LOVING Donald J. Trump…”

We can only imagine what kind of love notes he will send today, Valentine’s Day.

In fact, much of the Twittersphere (and Trump’s own platform, Truth Social) is the opposite of “IU,” especially when angry politicians are doing the typing.

On this Valentine’s Day, we thought it appropriate to remind you of a few other Trump tweets from over the years, coupled with some 140-character-or-so messages Principle Based Politics would like to send to him now. We are serious; our messages are what we actually want to share with Mr. Trump. We hope and pray our message gets through to him (and anyone else who tweets in the same fashion as him) somehow.

What Donald Trump Writes

In December 2022, a Tweet by Donald Trump read, “Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”

To this message, Principle Based Politics would write back, simply: “No. There was no massive fraud. The Constitution must be preserved.” Beyond that, as Mom used to say to those of us who could spell regarding the behavior of those who could not, “I-G-N-O-R-E.” We would disregard the rest. The same approach applies to all of Mr. Trump’s messages quoted below:

“Mexico will pay for the wall!” (September 2016)

“Sorry losers and haters, but my I.Q. is one of the highest—and you all know it! Please don’t feel so stupid or insecure, it’s not your fault” (May 2013)

“LIBERATE MICHIGAN” (April 2020)*

*Two weeks later, armed protesters entered the Michigan State Capitol.

“Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election. Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild.” (December 2020)

“These are the things and events that happen when a sacred landslide election victory is so unceremoniously & viciously stripped away from great patriots who have been badly & unfairly treated for so long. Go home with love & in peace. Remember this day forever.” (January 6, 2021)

“An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that @BarackObama’s birth certificate is a fraud.” (August 2012)

“Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being like, really smart…not smart, but genius…and a very stable genius at that!” (January 2018)

“…These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!” (May 2020)

What Principle Based Politics Would Say to Mr. Trump

A few Tweets we would have for Mr. Trump are as follows:

“President Trump, you supported some good economic policies, but we need a U.S. President who can both do that and consistently exhibit morals that honor principles of dignity, integrity, respect, and honesty.”

“America has done so much for you and your family, including granting you the privilege of four years to lead our great nation. Now it is time to for you to do America a favor and graciously retire from politics.”

“Please drop out before the ‘24 race really gets started so the GOP can freely nominate someone who upholds good principles and before President Biden makes his own final decision on running.”

“Your candidacy will accomplish nothing except help Democrats and hinder Republicans.”

“It also will be better for your own historical reputation if you magnanimously defer to others and withdraw from the Presidential race.”

That would be it. No ALL CAPS. No threats, veiled or otherwise. No name calling. No innuendo, dog whistles, or other hidden messages. That is the communication we would like to get through to Donald Trump.

Look for his posts each week, as this blog will explore and promote the idea of principle in politics, both as to individual elected leaders and our federal government as an institution.

Wow, thanks for the recap of Trump’s tweets; they are unbelievable. I agree with your tweets back.

Thank you. All the little politicians go “tweet, tweet, tweet,” these days, but Trump is one of a different feather.

I wish the whole world would read this and truly take to heart my favorite part: “That would be it. No ALL CAPS. No threats, veiled or otherwise. No name calling. No innuendo, dog whistles, or other hidden messages.”

Such a nice comment, Rose. The world truly would be so much better off with more respect, dignity, and, ultimately, peace.
