This podcast is an unedited discussion between guests Laurie Bergren and Darren Knight, moderated by Quentin Wittrock, the founder of Principle Based Politics. Both Ms. Bergren and Mr. Knight are lawyers and state their cases well – Laurie from the left side of the political spectrum and “DKnight” from the right. They disagreed on many things (e.g., climate change, which political party has moved what direction, and whether good policy is being made under the Trump Administration), but I believe we found some middle ground on which both guests agreed, such as:
Controlling the U.S. borders is good.
People who came to the U.S. illegally but have been productive and stayed out of legal trouble should be allowed to remain here and become citizens.
Wokeness makes for bad politics.
Government needs to be more efficient and impose fewer burdens on people and businesses.
Gerrymandering is bad, and both parties do it.
One-sided media sources are harmful to our nation.
We need more transparency in politics.
It was a start in my efforts to find and promote the center of American politics.

Posted at 22:34h, 20 JulyGood discussion, all. Respectful and still presented “two sides” to just about all the issues. It took me back to that point of the role of the federal government and how fundamental that is to just about everything else. From that standpoint, Darren is correct about the country moving to the left over the years; we just get “bigger” all the time. Good points also about global authoritarian leaderships and how they could equally be “left” as well as “right”. Food for thought on that one.
